When starting other 'Imagine' games out there, you get a fairly good selection of wear to customize your character from the start. However, in Rock Star you get to pick from only different hair colors, 3 tops, and 3 bottoms to make your "hip" upcoming star. Not to mention the 3D characters look like they were created back in the Super Nintendo's FX era. The gameplay itself throws you a doozie of a loop if you've played any musical games before. You get to watch your rocker "rock out" in the top screen and play on the bottom screen with 3 long colored zip pads that look like they came right out of an old Sonic the Hedgehog game.
Here is where it gets annoying, unless you can stand some of the songs long enough to get used to it. Above the zip pads, you see a line that sends the "notes" along for you to hit when it reaches the note hit zone on the left. The game tells you that you need to "strum" the zip pads to play the note. So you might just try to time it so that you are halfway through the zip pad right as the note hits the sweet spot. But to your annoying surprise, the note stops in its tracks the moment your stylus touched the touch screen.
Annoying game play mixed with an array of mediocre songs has me saying after playing 3 levels of this "awesome" game, I now understand why the hosts from X-Play said they "want to 'imagine' this series away."

Imagine : Rock Star - This is a good musical game for the nintendo DS but i personally would rather do Guitar Hero : On Tour for DS because its more of a challenge and lots of my favorite songs are on there but its worth a try to everyone that's reading this! :)
