Horrible

Sadly lacking

I've been playing flying games for 20 years and I found this game very typical of some of the early games from 20 years ago.

The arrangement of the controls for the PS3 was very awkward and counter-intuitive. It made flying a real chore.

The game play was poorly linked to the target map. Impossible to see the difference between the primary targets and the various enemy aircraft floating about. CLEAR AS MUD!

And then there is the graphics. Reminded me of 1985 and my Commodore 64.

This game is WWII dogfighting action at it's best in my opinion. I love games with real history to them. You get to be in the RAF and the Red Army in this one and fight the German menace. Controls are easy and the fighting is intense. I look forward to purchasing one day.

Overall, a very good game. The graphics are better than most other flight games I've ever played. The controls are easy to learn, yet allow for complex maneuvers. For those seeking a more arcade-style play, there is a setting for that, and you can just shoot down planes and bomb ships till your heart's content. Or, for those more serious gamers who are looking for realism, you can set the game to either 'realistic' or 'simulator' mode to limit fuel and ammunition, and make the enemies more difficult to kill. I like that this game encompasses multiple theaters of WWII, and allows you to fly in many different kinds of aircraft from different countries. My only regret is that it doesn't have a single-player campaign from the Axis point of view, but once you unlock the German planes you can fly them in training or online modes, so at least that. All in all, if you like aerial combat games, this is the best you're gonna find for the PS3.
