In Indiana, high school basketball is king. Hoosiers tells the story of an underdog small-town Indiana school that made an unforgettable run to the state championship in the 1950s. When Norman Dale (Gene Hackman) takes over as coach of the Hickory Huskers, he's got his work cut out for him. Teachers try to keep boys from going out for the team, one of the best players has an alcoholic dad (Dennis Hopper), and the rest of the town's fathers are worried about Dale's checkered past. But Dale overcomes these long odds and shapes his team into the most unlikely of contenders. Led by Jimmy Chitwood (Maris Valainis), the boys from Hickory go all the way to the big time in what's one of the best sports movies of all time.
