Not the best Harvest Moon by far

As a long time Harvest Moon fan, I am pretty disappointed with this game. Stamina meters are nothing new, but getting exhausted this quickly is horrible. You also have to figure out a lot of stuff by trial and error. For example when you plant seeds you plant them in a row of 3 going away from you, but nobody really tells you that. The targeting is pretty poor, and even pulling weeds takes a lot out of your character.
Character interaction has ALWAYS been flat in Harvest Moon but it's especially flat here. The bachelors are pretty stereotypical, a doctor, the mayors son, and a fisherman (so far). It is, as always a pretty open game, you can do what you want but not when you want as you're always limited by your stamina meter. There are also a lot of variables like your soil can be poor, good, great etc and theres no way to control them other than buying overpriced fertilizer.
You don't start out with a full set of tools either, you get a hoe and a watering can and the fisherman will give you a fishing pole but thats it. My farm started with a tree fully grown smack in the middle of it and another tree sprouted the next day, but I can't chop them down because I don't have an axe, can't afford one and if there's someone who gives you one for free I havent met them yet.
I was really looking forward to finally playing this game, as the other harvest moon games I've gotten from gamefly have always been damaged, but it's a far cry from the gameplay on the gamecube.
If you want a better Harvest moon game check out:
Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar for DS
Harvest Moon: A Tale of Two Towns for DS/3DS
Or if you want a more expansive game with more than just farming but still a Harvest Moon flavor check out
Rune Factory Frontier for Wii
All of these games are leagues above Tree of Tranquility. Honestly I could forgive EVERYTHING ELSE if it were not so slow paced. I just wanna relax and farm... but this game puts so much other BS in the way that it's hard
