This game was the best Harry Potter game, yet. I had no problem with the controls with this game. I was sitting like feet away and it worked fine. The game play was fun and the graphics were great. Overall I give this game a 10.
Harry Potter was a reasonably fun game. I kept it long enough to "finish" the game (on easy), but it wasn't without its flaws. FYI... I'm not a Potter fan. I've only seen 3 movies (one was becuase I was stuck on a long flight), and I've never touched a Potter book. Potter fans could add 1 point to my score easily.
On the positive side, I loved how there was zero load time when you opened doors or moved between areas. That was a big plus. It was a good idea to use the Wiimote and nunchuck combo to mimic spell casting motions. That was very cool. The game itself looks pretty cool for a Wii game. There is some hesitation and apparent dips in frame rate, but all in all, pretty cool looking replication of all of Hogwarts.
Now, what wasn't too cool... The concept of using the Wiimote to motion spells was great, but I found it frustrating to try to get the wiimote to actually cast the correct spell. All too often I found myself trying to do one thing and the wiimote refused to do it. One spell has you make a circular motion, and the wiimote often seemed to confuse this motion with the pull motion, the push motion, or the side to side motion. When you play it (and I recommend that you at least try it) you'll see what I mean. I felt that the game design itself had me wandering around Hogwarts much too often. There were too many "walk around and find all 5 of these thing" quests that I just didn't care about.
I completed the main quest, but only 75% of the entire game... there were just too many of those "look for these things in random places" quests for my liking. Good game... rent it, finish it as far as you like, and send it back. The miracle of gamefly!
