It was a decent FPS. However, it just didn't feel like Halo. It wasn't just the lack of Master Chief, but also the stupid visor and the ugly view the whole game.
I finished the campaign in around 6 hours. The story is decent and the voice acting pretty good. It could be a good value if you want all of the Halo 3 Multiplayer on the cheap (included with purchase....not with rent from Gamefly).
1) good controls
2) fun weapons
1) ugly visor view through the game
2) graphics were not that great
3) just didn't feel like Halo
The only reason I checked this out is because I've gone 2 years without and xbox and this came out. Love halo games, big fan. The low budget feel of it just killed me. Levels are very linear, your soldier is a wuss, the enemies are easy, and its extremely dark in some areas forcing you to use this ridiculous hud. I give props for the voice acting, but the story does them no justice. PASS, not sure why IGN gave 9/10
Good concept, great Halo "feel" eg, controls, physics sounds, except the music is nothing like the original and the Audio logs are mashed together in a studio in what seems rushed and badly cast (the girl is annoying after 10 minutes and the over use of honking horns and bleeps gets me raging)
What this game does lack is refinement like the other Halo's. I have not played 4 yet but plan to because this title has disappointed me.
10/10 for controls.
9/10 for special effects.
7/10 for general graphics ie draw distances.
4/10 for music.
5/10 for character vocals and other "audio log" rubbish.
6.5/10 total. Would just rent, till I have played the single player, maybe hold onto it for live if anybody still plays it haha.
