Otome (????? otome gemu?, lit. "girl game") are story based video games that are targeted towards a female market. Generally one of the goals, besides the main plot goal, is to develop a romantic relationship between the female player character and one of several male, or occasionally female characters. This genre is most established in Japan, and is mostly made up of visual novels and simulation games.
My wife recently "gameflyed" this game on the PS3 and loved it immensely, this is not a normal style video game, but if you love Anime and/or historical Japanese samurai stories, this is an awesome use of Gamefly...
This game wouldn't be so dissapointing if I hadn't been misled into thinking it was an actual game. All you do is read/watch and ocasionally make a choice about what your character should do(which sometimes leads to the same outcome whatever you choose). The actual story/mystery may have been interesting if it wasn't so monotonously told. As it is, I couldn't even force myself to keep it for a 2nd day. If it was offered in a regular book that I could read at my own pace(fast) maybe it would be worth a second look but this version wasn't worth the effort.
