.hack mutation follows the EXACT same gameplay formula as .hack infection. THere are a lot of flaws tothe games:
-they're repetitive and tedious.
-bad voice acting makes a comeback, but it's pretty hilarious so I'll forgive it.
-the difficulty curve is either nonexistant or the developers wanted it to look like a cat of the graph or something because the game is easy and hard at random times.

I didn't finish this game.
I wasn't motivated to, the story had lost some of its luster. It seems as if the characters are just trying to stall until the next game in the siries.

There are some new things in this game:
-Flag race: a grunty flag race, but you have to have all 3 gruntys, so prepare to not race at all.
-"World Staff": you now get e-mails and assignments from the staff, but they're the same as any other! Go to dungeon A and defeat Infected monster B.

This game is for the people who played .hack infection and thoguht "the game should have been longer and less exciting" But i guess I didn't really expect anything more from the game so it's a 6.

After playing the first installment of .hack, there was no way I could pass up playing the second.

Though very similar to the first installment, there were some additions to help keep your interest. There are some new mini games expanding on mini games that would have been played in the first installment.

I would definitely have to say that you should not play this installment of .hack if you haven't played the first one, as this is a continuation of the first.

I did find myself sucked in yet again. The story became a bit more interesting, and definitely held my interest. I am looking forward to playing the 3rd installment now.

Overall I would say that this is a game worth playing. It does get a bit repetitive, and the characters are a bit fake, but the fun is in the story progression.

. Hack Mutation is a game that yet again puts you in the role of Kite and takes place exactly right after the first game. In this game you are allowed to enroll yourself into a new sector with whole new levels and monsters. The coolest part of this game is that if you beat the first game succesfully then you will be able to use that character then restarting and be at level 1.
Understanding that this game was only made some odd months after the first game, that still leaves no excuse that the game looks EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE FIRST!!!!!!!. However there are new gameplay elements that are cool like new spells to be use in battle. There is also a new type of data drain that allows you to drain multiple monsters and be able to get more codes to unlock more places.
You can also get new allies and still be able to interact with them but it feels like im playing the first ga,e only with more people. I was still annoyed with some of the voice overs that sound completely strange and bizarre. I also hated how gosh darn short this game is. It literally only took me one day to completly beat this game.
Don't get me wrong this is still a great game however i was extremly disapointed with the likeness in the first game. One of the coolest improvments is with the storyline because the world is starting to make sence.
Overall this game was just a genetically altered clone of the first game however with major storyline changes and more characters to play as.
