If you've been playing this game from volume one as I have, chances are you've killed hundreds of monsters, used countless skill triggers, and seen enough area key words to fill a dictionary.
This game advances the storyline, has a few new avatar battles, and turns Divine Awakenings into Avatar Awakenings. Which consist of only one attack that you have to use to level it up in order to get stronger versions of it.
One thing I didn't like about this game is that I didn't get all the lv.3 arts, the final Avatar Awakening, or some of the coolest party members around until after I beat the game and the Forest of Pain, the new 100-level dungeon.
By then, I could easily kill three people at the same time in the arena, which pits you against computer-controlled characters atop a floating platform in a stadium overlooking a giant forest at sundown.
That being said, Haseo is easily the most badass character I've ever seen in a video game. He uses not only energy guns, but scythes, giant swords, and twin swords, each of which have their own set of skills...except dual guns have only one, though it is probably the coolest-looking.
The way that attacks hit during a Rengeki in this volume is underwhelming compared to the previous two games, IMO. Each hit of Chaotic Strike was much more drawn out in the last game, and at the end you knocked your foe down with a huge energy ball instead of that spear-looking thingy in this game.
Once you get Drain Heart (by maxing out your Avatar Awakening to level 10), you will see the most awesome attack in a 3d RPG. It takes time, but it's worth it.
The Forest of Pain was REALLY long, but it allowed you to go back to town every 10 or so levels. Some of the enemies near the end are pretty tough, being immune to physical or magical attacks. the final boss was easier than I thought he would be though.
The first game had the best sound effects.
The second had the best attack animations.
The third has the best gameplay. Try them all!
