Game play Leveling Does not match up with Avatars

All of the Game play Leveling and gain is wasted when you have to take part in Avatar Battling to move the story along. The Avatar's Strength is so weak compared to the regular player's strength, and if you cannot win the battle in the Battle Arena with your Avatar, the story and your game can go no further and all you have gained is lost!!

Aida battles aside, everything in the game seems to repeat it's self. I found that leveling up could only be done in areas 4-5 levels higher than you to avoid becoming bored to quickly.

dungeons are better than the original .hack game, however, battles were never a true challenge, button mashing and hitting rengekies was all that was needed to progress in the game.

the mission dungeons are far too long, going down 4-5 floors to reach the mysterious Aida signals, and was hardly rewarded, usually with a weak Aida enemy, and usually only one.

for the story progress.. Same graphic style, same gameplay (keep pressing the X button until your enemies die!!) it turns out that this hack game provide a summary of the previous game.. so i decided to save me some valuable time and skip this one instead and wait to play the last one of the series, .hack//gu vol 3 coming in in september. Since the gameplay is the same except for the story progress.. so it's best for me to skip this one and save some 30+hours.

Anyway, if you have the cleared game from the previous game you can used that and start from there.. if not you can pick New Game option.. you will start this game at level 40, with 5000 money plus items and 4 attacks!! also.. some allies that you should have from the previous game.

.hack//gu series is an improvement over the previous four installment.. but it still need some improvment.. i like the action style rpg.. but still at least have 2 buttons attacks or variety of combos using one button like (kingdom heats II or star ocean: till the end of time's attack combos) or trigger command. Other than the X button over and over.. and the same area over and over... we, older gamers, are not in our teens anymore.. so we only have minutes not hours of free time to play games. :/

despite what people said.. this game is above average and way better than phantasy star universe regarding the repetitive problem. :)
