I was looking for a game on the PSP similar to Zelda. Gurumin was mentioned on more than one forum so I gave it shot.
This game has a lot of character. Parin is a great protagonist, full of humor and attitude. The supporting characters provide laughs. The story is lighthearted and fun.
The gameplay is where it falls flat. The whole game is very repetitive. You go into an area and try to clear it. To ace it you have to break every barrel, open every chest, and defeat every enemy. The problem is the boss battles. They are surprisingly tough. To improve your chances, you will need to buy supplies and improve equipment. That means going through dungeons multiple times if you're stuck.
It was tiresome. I could not beat the last boss. The controls in the game are not the most responsive and I felt there were some attacks that were unavoidable.
Someone with more skills than me might enjoy it more. I was playing on normal difficulty. I did not have the desire to start over on the beginner difficulty.
