There needs to be a continue option in this game. Every time you die, you go right back the title screen. Annoying. But the game is a lot of fun. Very reminiscent of the original, but with enough differences to make it worth playing. The different endings for each character based on the difficulty is also a nice touch. Overall, a very good game, but the lack of a continue, and the fact that you can't see the endings after unlocking them keeps it from being perfect.
As a platform adventure game GSSE is okay. As a continuation of the original it is excellent. The new board game dungeon by Black, the "save the baby chicks" section (anyone remember Flicky?), and the cave level against Green are all reminiscent of what made the original game great. The mixture of guns and the new super attacks for them are a nice addition as well.
The game is really short, and the replay value is kind of low for me. It's enough to remind you how much fun the first game is and continues to throw neat twists into the gameplay, then it ends. Unless you're obsessed with completing all the levels on all difficulties with both characters, you could finish this one up in a few days. If you loved the original give this one a run0through. If you didn't, you could still enjoy Gunstar Superheroes, but not as much.
