They shoulda stuck with just the guitar

Guitar Hero was fun, but when they tried to hop on the Rock Band wagon they missed the boat.
Maybe it's personal aesthetics or whatever, but I found myself continually comparing this to Rock Band 2 and thinking how RB2 had done better every time.
Both games have similar setlists, which begs the question about lazy licensing and plagiarism. But that's another story.
The difficulty level in GHWT seems arbitrary - pick any difficulty level, as you progress through the game, the tracks more-or-less become incrementally more challenging to play, or at least that's what you'd expect. Some of the tracks at the end of the game are so easy, compared to hellish earlier tracks!
The licensed characters also made me cringe - seeing the supergroup of Ozzy and Sting and that bearded freak, kicking out the jams in Times Square 2009, just made me shake my head. It all just seemed poorly conceived.
