If you haven't been living under a rock for the past couple of years, you'd know that Guitar Hero on the PS2 was one of the best games for the system, and it was selling like hotcakes.
If you've experienced Guitar Hero for yourself, you'd know that GH1 would be hard (like frickin' hard) to top. But GH2 did the impossible and toped every aspect of the game and more.
The new song list is now much greater ranged in terms of genre and include more well known ones, and alot more not-so-well no ones for a familiar yet fresh experience, and all of the songs, are of course, a blast to play.
Remember multiplayer, the face off type mode that forced people into competition and led into arguments sometimes because of more or less notes and stuff like that? Now there's the co-op mode, which leaves the responsibility to both of the players, and is good for those who treated the old multiplayer like a duet thing. Plus what's really great is that you can each choose a different difficulty. There's also the old face off mode and the pro face off mode which has two players neck -and-neck playing the same notes on the same difficulty.
Another new thing is the new practice mode, which lets you choose specific parts of a song, and a speed (normal to very slow) so you can really nail the hard parts without worrying about the crowd dissing you.
New options enable widescreen display, progressive scan, and lag calibration if you have a high-def TV set.
There's a whole new roster of characters now, along with a plethora of new venues. The characters that are the same look drastically different, but you'll get used to it (ya' wuss!).
All in all, Guitar Hero 2 may officially the best game on the system, easily, by far. Hollohill gives it a 10 outta 10, a perfect score for a perfect game.
