Need to Groove to Better Songs

What do you get when you put in a rhythm based game, a bunch of blocks, and a Match Three game into a blender and hit the puree button? You get Groovin’ Blocks.
The basic idea of the game is to arrange the multi colored blocks so when you drop them, you get three or more of a single color in a row either horizontally or vertically. You can also start a chain reaction to get even more points.
But the trick here is to get used to the beat of the song you select at the beginning of the level. The blocks flash from dull gray to brilliant colors according to the beat of that song. You need to drop the blocks so when the hit bottom - or other blocks already placed - they are turned on and are not grayish. The resulting matching three bits will score even more points and any resulting cascading combinations also will yield much more points.
At the end of each level, you get 0,1,2 or 3 stars according to how many points you score in the round. The more points scored, the more stars you get.
The game starts off with only three of the 21 songs unlocked, and you have to achieve a certain number of starts to unlock the next three, and then get a certain number of starts for the next three songs, and so on.
This is an interesting idea, but the songs aren’t ones that I’m into. “Bobblehead”? “Beakers Break”? “I love my C-64”? The lack of love for these songs takes the excitement out of playing this game. (A music inspired game is only as good as the songs that are in it.)
Groovin’ Blocks is only for those who want to play a puzzle game AND a rhythm based game, and only those looking for those types of games. SKIP IT.

fun, but not that original

It plays well and it's basically the game columns with some enhancements, but I didn't really feel the need to play it much. I had trouble dropping stuff to the exact beat. Perhaps it's too sensitive?

If you don't have the wiiware tetris or the virtual console tetris then you may have some room for this in your lineup....
