When this game came out, it was great. It was the first GTA on PS2 and one of the first non-linear games on PS2. Since then there has almost been an entire genre set aside for GTA-like games. It is still a formitable opponent for current 3rd person shooters, though. A must play for historical value.
Pros:
Great story.
Non-linear gameplay.
Good old fashioned GTA fun.
Cons:
No bikes.
Unimaginative missions.

This game is pretty good at its time. If right now you play this game and youve played the other games first you probably will not think this game is the greatest but if you play this one first then vice city and then san andreas then you will prolly like it. The name is legendary GRAND THEFT AUTO, the game where you can do what you want. Do things that you might want to do but wont do in real life because of the repercussions. You steal cars, speeding - hitting people, killing, robbing. Whatever you want to do its in here. Good missions, midly good script. Graphics good at its time but as of now are not all that great. The best thing about this game is when it came out it had no competetion the only thing close to it was the driver series but at that time in driver you couldnt get out of your car. So it was a one of a kind game. The bad thing back then was you didnt really get caught up in the game. It didnt pull you in and captivate you with its plot. But now there are so many games pawning off of the idea of the gta style. Which sucks but we all know who started it and who still does it better and thats GTA! A must rent game if you havent played the two newer ones.
