I mean if you really can't wait for the full version of the game this is an awesome rental.

Pros: Excellent graphics, awesome rumble support, online play

Cons: Lack of customization, slow paced menus, online play

Not Bad For a Prequel

Having played every Gran Turismo game in the series I was somewhat exited about this game and the fact that it is on the PS3 playing in 1080 definition was a bonus. Well first off for the hardcore GT gamer this game is missing alot. No license tests, you can only quick tune your car after you beat get to a certain point in the game. The game handles well and just like the motto of the series it is a true to life sim. The graphics are dead on to the cars real life counter part. The track graphics are amazing as well. However that's about as good as it gets because this is not a full game. It is rather short and gets boring pretty fast because there are not a lot of tracks and without the tuning ability it takes away from the game. It's a good thing they are only charging $39.99 for this because that's all it's worth if that. There is no option fo custom soundtracks, which in my opinion would have somewhat helped the game along. Overall I gave this game a 7 out of 10. It's worth a look and even the die hard fan of the series will get bored of it quick.

Jaw dropping visuals hurts Online multiplayer

GT5P looks stunning! theres no denying that. When the full game comes out, it will be amazing. The incar view is by far my favorite and this preview has a nice selection of cars to choose from.

Unfortunately, the game seems more of a demo rather than a full priced game. The cars have no customization and ability to upgrade. The multiplayer is severely broken compared to other racing games like Forza 2. You find a race online, wait to find a game and join the race. After you have finished the race you are awarded money which is great because you can make more money online than racing in the game. Then you are kicked out to find another host. It usually takes around 3-5 mins to find a game which is ok, but I'd rather see all the races that are going on.

I think the worst part about the online experience is the way the cars react when they are near each other. Its almost like each car is made of rubber coating and when another car comes in contact with it, they bounce off you or you bounce off them. Online players are already using this bug to get ahead and instead of competing competitively, the race turns into a free for all of who can bounce the other player out of control. There is no voicechat over psn, which is sad especially in this era of online gaming.

I'm happy I rented it before I purchased it because unfortunately Forza 2 is still a better experience until GT5 gets more refined.
