Really Bad

Worse than Sega Genesis

Golden Axe is one of my favorite nostalgic games from the past. The series of games for the Genesis were awesome beat em ups with a simple, but fun, formula for gameplay.

Beast Rider is a horrible remake of the 32-bit classics. The slow and sloppy fighting make it frustratingly unfun. Instead of creating a hack n slash beat em up, they went for a more timed approach for combat. By that I mean you mostly use evade and parry as ways of killing your enemies.

I was hoping for lots of swords and axes, maybe a variation of my character, and a lot of pressing X. Instead it's a game where you have to figure out the proper way to dispose of each enemy, whether it's with a parry kill or using magic. I just wanted to button mash my way through this one, but I couldn't.

You can ride like 4 variations of beasts too, hence the name, each with their own combat moves. You can sprint and run over enemies, blow flames, use a stealth cloak, or simply crush enemies with your beast. But you get knocked off WAY too easily, and they are too slow to use. Their moves are painstakingly slow and while you're attacking you'll get knocked off in no time. Then your enemy will steal your beast and kill you with it.

NOTE: For hunters, this game is BRUTALLY difficult to get achievements. I would stay away at all costs. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get 1000. If you manage to do that, you are a demigod.

In addition to the 1player campaign, there are 2 other modes. Challenge mode allows you to replay any level with super weapons and armor you've unlocked, allowing for easier (and by easier I mean still near impossible) achievements. And there is a Trials mode where you face waves of enemies that get progressively difficult and overwhelming as you'd expect.

The 4.1 avg rating should indicate that Beast Rider is a bad one. Even if you're a fan of the series, I don't think you'll buy into this one today, especially for how outdated it is by now. Steer clear of it.

this game would be for some one that likes looking for things while running away from people that try to kill you if you dont have a mount and then the mounts die instantly after you get them

Okay so who makes a game where once you have a saved game the start up menu doesn't place the cursor on continue game rather then new game. And who makes a game where there is only one save slot. If you press A 3 times without moving your selection you will completely erase whatever file you had before and start the game over again. Fun I know cause i wanna play the awful beginning over and over again.... Stupid layout, lacks smooth gameplay, for such good developers game isn't good at all. don't even waste your time for even achievements cause it will take you 30 plus hours most likely to get into the meat of the achievements...

Piece of ___ at its finest, feel bad for anyone rented this or bought it. especially bought it, they shouldbve been paid to play this game...
