After all the sub par reviews I wasn't expecting to keep this game past a few days. I have about 6 hours into the game and it has gotten better, more challenging due to the better creatures as you gain rank. I am a big Monster Hunter fan and there are a ton of similarities between the two. GEB combines your three weapon types from MH into one: Sword (short, long, claymore), Shield, and Gun (blast, sniper & assault). So now all you need to do is concentrate on which weapon type and modifiers you want depending upon the boss weakness. If you don't counter their weakness with a weapon, you will probably not get a kill in the 30 minutes or less time frame. For most this will become an issue (oh no I have to actually think about what weapons and bullets I need to kill the creature?! I just want to spam the square button from a distance). I didn't find there to be too much dialogue, more than MHU but not as annoying as MH Tri, so don't feel this will be an issue. Going from the mission counter to changing weapons and items to the door to fight the mission is about a 2 second walk, much less annoying than MHU when you want to change equipment. Fighting in the beginning is easier since you will have help that does fight and heal you.
If you want to take the time to learn how to combine items, farm for equipment upgrades, prepare bullets based on weakness and strategy, you will like this title. For non-Monster Hunter fans you will rate this a 6, possibly 7. For MH fans a 7 to 8.
