Okay, just as a quick punch line a the beginning or whatever, this game is definitely worth at least a rent in my book, let me tell you why.
It is very addictive. While it does have some pretty average graphics, but they are acceptable. The textures and such don't always look as good as they could, but it's the gameplay that matters, right?
So about the gameplay, it is good. While you will be doing the same thing for most, no, the entire game, it doesn't lose its touch. It manages to change the difficulty and extras (like weapons) up just enough to keep you satisfied. And, surprisingly, killing people really doesn't get old. The shotgun is just so fun to shoot. Lots of customization, like full face and stuff. and the clothes of your Family.
Speaking of Family, the system is very good. The ones in your crew (the 3 that follow you) will actually talk to you and change what they say depending on the plot point. They also have their own personalities, which is a good touch. Like the Ladies Man, or a promiscuous dude. What is bad is that you have to kill them to get them out of the Family if you want to replace them, but hey, its realistic.
The whole Don thing is also good. Although you will find that once you start getting a good setup, you kind of just take over place after place, trying to get those bulletproof vests or ammo belts. And occasionally sending a few of your Soldiers and maybe a Capo to defend one of your rackets while you shoot a guy in the face to get a special way to kill an enemy officer.
And that's another weird thing. The enemy families, like you, have officers. And to kill them permanently, you have to do a favor for someone random on the street that you talk to (they have a key on their head) and then you get how to kill them permanently, like a headshot. Otherwise, they just go to the hospital, even if you shot them in the head when you were just supposed to punch them.

this game is almost worth purchasing its run on the same gta platform but has some major improvements such as the ability to choose how conversations go and to somewhat dictate the pace and outcome of the game. the way the game progresses and the things that need to be done to take over buissneses and make money are outstanding its over all a great game. there are some gliches which stem from being run on the gta4 platform which is y i gave it an 8 instead of a ten but over all the pros far out way the cons definatly worht renting.

Ill keep my review simple. I put the game in my Game Q pretty much cause nothing else looked good, It has been a pretty bad summer for games.
I got the game on a tuesday and beat it by friday night. I think it probably took me 20 hours.
The game plays exactly like grand theft auto but the shooting mechanics are much better, the guns are more unique and you have specialy finishing moves and what not that are a nice change of pace.
If you like the GTA style of game and want a fun weekend game give this a rent, you wont have to comit a hard 2 weeks to the game like GTA either. It is a big game but if you know what your doing you can buzz through it.
No need to buy unless you like the multiplayer (which i havent played yet). I might give it a go but i normally only play multiplayer for games that have substantial communities. It does me no good to prove myself to a few thousands people when there are many many more games out there with big communities.
Great game, Great Story. Honest rating is about a 8.5 just for pure fun.
i gave it a 10 to try and equal out the overalll score.
