The gameplay of "God of War: Ascension" is just as solid and as visceral as that of any other entry in the series. The main problem is that it's just more of the same. It looks, plays, and feels exactly like every other GoW game released over the past eight years. No growth, no evolution, just the same old thing that you've played half a dozen times before this; some rudimentary puzzles, some topless women for the pubescent crowd, and lots of screaming and hacking. And it's abundantly clear that the brains behind this series have run out of characters for Kratos to fight, as well as reasons for him to fight them.
This game may be good enough for die-hard God of War fanboys, but any discerning gamer must agree that this horse has already been whipped and beaten to death. Come on, guys, show us something fresh. Prove you're not a one-trick pony.

Got this in the mail today, popped it in excitedly. The audio doesn't work at all. AT ALL. The game freezes sometimes at load screens, the loading/saving icon has terrible graphical glitches, and my entire system even froze up twice.
Undeterred, I installed the patch, thinking it would resolve launch day issues.
Graphical glitches remain, still no audio (despite trying all 4 audio output settings). Garbage. I should do everyone a favor and throw it in the trash instead of putting it back in the mailbox.
Santa Monica Studios just lost a long time fan (ever since the Pizza Hut demo of God of War 1!)
