A classic in my eyes.

I found this game on a ps2 demo disc at a friend's house back in the day, and I was instantly hooked. I was incredibly excited to find out that they'd re-released it for my psp, as I'd since parted ways with the ps2, and the game.
I won't spend any time trying to explain how the gameplay works. Suffice it to say it's unique, addictive, and incredibly fun. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's also on the difficult side. The story is quirky at best, and pretty obviously poorly translated and cheesily dubbed. Normally, this annoys me and detracts from the experience. In the case of Gitaroo Man, though, I find it adds to the charm. Am I biased? Probably...but it's how I feel.
As others have mentioned, the song list is unfortunately short, but what's here is incredible, and the levels could almost be described as punishingly difficult. I challenge even the most devout "expert" guitar heroes to beat the last few songs of Gitaroo Man on "Master Mode." It took me a very, very long time.
All in all, this is honestly one of my favorite games of all time. Is it a rhythm game? Obviously. Does it compare to Rock Band/Guitar Hero? I'd have to say no, because it's a completely different game. The gameplay is most similar, I suppose, to Parappa the Rapper...but it really is it's own game and should be experienced as such.
The ONLY complaint (beyond wanting a sequel and/or more songs) I have with this PSP remake of such a great game...is the loading times. They really are pretty ridiculous.
