I am a hard core fan of Gears of War and the only reason why I have Xbox not the PS3. I pre ordered this game and had a huge expectation specially with the snap shots and pre release clips. My review for this game goes this way.
Campaign : By far from all the GOW series I found this is the best campaign mode. With mini horde mode every now and then, Declassified mission makes the game more intense and challenging. The new laser turrent is really kool.
Overrun: This is WOW when u play for the first week but soon you will realize the few tricks and tips then u lose the joy. (A Tip play engineer it's way powerful than the other)
Survival : Nothing different than the overrun it's just that u dont get to be the locust and it has 10 wave.
Multiplayer : This is where I play the most but Judgement did the worst job here. They took all the good stuff ( Grenade tag, Ganasher Battle and the tense moment where you are the last guy battling against 3 or 4 opponent). In short they took all the fun away. The game has limited map (4 I guess) New weapons are good but starting the game with only 1 main weapon and pistol is bad. Melee is way too powerful there is no shortgun battle melee takes it away.

Final verdict : Excellent Campaign everything else is by far the worst ever. Do not buy. Rent from here or red box and complete the campaign. If u dont believe me Judgement sale for 1st week is just a quarter of GOW3 sale in 1st week.

Should have been a $20 DLC expansion to GoW3

I haven't dug much into multiplayer yet so most of my commentary is on the campaign. This campaign was the weakest of the 4 games by far. The most irritating change up is the constant stopping for your "3 star" ranking after every small section. This gives each of the 6 campaign levels no sense of continuity or design. It feels like you're just playing a set of multiplayer maps, each with a rotation of modes. Most annoying is that there is no boss fights until the end - and even that one was far from epic. None of the 'acts' end with any kind of climax or great moment that changes up the gameplay. There's no big monsters to fight, no collapsing buildings, no giant worms swallowing you. Just one map after another that go back and forth from light-defense mode to "kill everything" mode. Furthermore, there is almost no story to the entire campaign. Nothing interesting or essential is added to the GoW universe - much in the way that most expansion packs don't wan't to do anything that drastically changes the overall plot. The "Aftermath" mini-campaign that gets unlocked is ACTUALLY BETTER than the main campaign and feels much more like a true GoW experience. Overall, a lazy attempt to take what SHOULD have been a DLC pack and dress it up as a full game and sell it for full price.
