I am a big fan of the Game of Thrones series and was eager to play the game. Needless to say I was very disappointed when I played the game. Like most of the other reviews on this game from my fellow Gamefly members about the the horrendous fighting controls. I tried to give it a honest chance and played it for a couple of days but could not get used to the delayed controls and just became frustrated with the game. It would have been better if I would have not played it all, a big 1 rating!
Probably like most who would get this game, I am a HUGE GoT fan. I've read the books and I've watched every episode on HBO at least twice. That said, I didn't have high expectations for the game, but I was hoping for just a little nugget of goodness that could satisfy my craving for as much GoT as possible.
Alas, that was not to be. The combat is cumbersome and boring, and far too difficult. I'm not looking for an easy game, but at least make me struggle w/ my fighting choices, or reaction time, or something I can control. Not with the 3rd fight of the game being a dreaded task where I choose what moves my character will make and watch as my opponents' hit points barely move and mine diminish faster than my happiness after putting this game in!
Finding loot is equally boring. I basically have to just run around every square foot of a room to see if the little "there's loot here" light lights up, if so, I pick up a few measly coins. Maybe later in the game this gets better, but I doubt if I will find out.
I have to say, there is one great thing about the game. You can turn it on and listen to the theme music for as long as you want. Nothing like that cello playing in the background when working on a spreadsheet for my real job, which somehow is more fun than this game.
