I found this to be an all-around solid game. Pretty much the whole time I was playing I was totally into it, which is a plus. The graphics were above average and the actual game-play was very enjoyable. I liked the vast wilderness that you can roam, that aspect reminded me of Mercenaries. I felt this was a better depiction of the wild west than Red dead Revolver was. One suggestion for all of you serious gamers though, start on the hard level.
While I enjoyed GUN, my major beef with the game was that it was simply too short. You can beat it in an afternoon. Once you have beat it, there's really no incentive to go back and do anything.
The graphics are very good, as is the voice acting. It's gory, violent, and half of the missions involve prostitutes, so you probably don't want to get this for your 10-year-old.
GUN's plot is engaging--a good revenge story--but seems to fall a little flat about 2/3rds through the game.
Riding a horse is done very well, especially shooting baddies from the horse. The weapon variety is good, and like in other games of this kind (GTA, True Crime, etc.) you may find yourself with a favorite weapon.
The mission variety is OK--but there aren't enough of them! Likewise, when you're home on the range, there isn't much to do. Occasionally bad guys will jump you, or you can shoot wolves, but mostly you will be concerned with what happens in the two (2) towns. Yes, the world map could be bigger.
I was hoping for more replay value from this game, but on the whole it's heck of fun to play. If you like these sort of "open-ended" adventure games, it's a MUST-RENT. You may find yourself disappointed if you buy on Thursday evening and beat it by Saturday afternoon.
