Nostalgia Lacking, This is Not What I Hoped For

Does anyone have great feelings of nostalgia and hopefulness when hearing that there is a new GI Joe game? Apparently not the minds behind this disaster. Although I was briefly excited when I had the opportunity to unlock Joes I used to love as a kid and learned of the pretty solid roster and vehicle lineup, everything came crashing to a halt, and FAST, as soon as the game began. This game is a mess! There are so many issues that it's tough to pick a starting point.
There are no save points or checkpoints throughout the levels. You must complete a level in order to save your progress. Although this may be minor, this is a standard feature of ALL games in the current gen and has been the norm since the days of the NES...which, by the way, if you remember the GI JOE game from the NES, you will be sadly mistaken if you assume that this game is better because it is 15+ yrs more modern. And does this really matter? YES, because if you play on any difficulty other than the easiest, you will die....often. Your character can essentially take 5-6 hits before dying. If both characters die, you must restart the entire level having to retread wave after boring wave of what seem to be neverending and completely mindless enemies.
You have NO CAMERA CONTROL! While this can be found in many games, for a 360 degree platformer like this which requires constant exploration and lateral movement to not have ANY camera adjustment is a crime! The camera will become your enemy early and often.
Auto-targeting control: not so much. The game indicates that you have control over what you auto-target, but you're far better off simply shooting at whatever it automatically points you towards or risk a very quick death trying to get back to ANY enemy target.
There is no collision detection whatsoever, they have ridiculously provided unlimited ammo (I don't even think they did that on the NES game), last gen quality graphics, no power ups or enhancements, and on and on it goes.
