Overall, this version of the game is an improvement to the original where the levels are larger and the tactical elements make the game more interesting and a lot more difficult.
One of the things that made the first Full Spectrum Warrior great was the new way of controlling the characters in the game, where you were just commanding and not using them as a first person shooter. Ten Hammers tries to bridge the gap here and give you a precision aiming mode where you get to go into first person and actually fire on the enemy. The idea is nice but the execution is a bit lacking. In most cases, this mode is more of a same thing as before where you are just commanding the character to fire.
As well as the addition of online play, the other cool feature this time was the ability to split up your teams in 2 x 2 formation to allow for more real strategic play. Essentially, you could have 4 teams of 2 soldiers covering the entire map. It becomes a task to manage all those separate teams, but makes for a more intense experience.
On the needs improvement side, the AI was inconsistent. In many cases, the enemy seemed to be a better shot than your guys. This lead to frustration and repetitive need to either try to bring your wounded to a medic or restarting the level.
It's a good game and worth the rental.
