Front Mission 4 for PlayStation 2 Reviews by Gamers

According to the save game file I've spent about 6 hours on the game so far, but according to a walkthrough on gamefaq though I'm only about 1/3 - 1/4 of the way through it (and I haven't even been running all the simulation missions). I haven't played any of the other games in the Front Mission series so I have nothing to compare it to on that basis but so far it's been a lot of fun. The controls are nicely laid out and easy to pick up on. The graphics are of course not the best by today's standards (and I'm sure playing this on a PS3 & HDTV is not helping any) but they are good enough to get you through the game. The only major issue I have with it is the story line. Frankly I'm not interested in it and having to go around and "talk" to various people at times to advance the story just isn't doing anything for me. I'd rather just go from mission to mission (with a stop in between to level up the pilots and modify the Wanzers.

I'm also a little concerned about the replayability of the game once I do finally finish it. There doesn't seem to be any way of going back and replaying levels and I'm not sure how long the simulations last, or how long you'll have access to them once the game is done. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a "random level"/"quick battle" option either. None the less, if you are interested in turn based strategy games I strongly recommend this one.
