What if Russia was as strong as it looked?

Russia has invaded the U.S. Our forces are in chaos. Who will step up and save us? You will of course. And who are you? Chris Stone, New York plumber and freedom fighter. Yep, that's the story. The game is a squad-based shooter where you need to take back territory from the Russians. Each level is well designed and there are quite a few weapons to choose from. Using your squad is essential for victory and the more charisma you get over the course of the game the more followers you can have at once. The graphics aren't bad, but definitely not great. The controls are simple enough but sniper rifle control was very touchy. There are a few commands you can give your squad like regroup, attack, and defend the area. And Each level will need to be completed in a certain order if you want to make it easier on yourself. Which brings me to my next point. Some of the game is easy while other parts are ridiculously frustrating. Character models are a little clunky so that drags down the gaming experience as well. Overall this is a decent game but not a buy. I give it a 6, out of 10.

They Pulled it Off

This game was a surprising blast. Usually this sort of game is a bore, but I gave it a try, and was pleased.

The graphics were decent for the system. There is a large variety in weapons, as well as a good difference in the performance of those weapons. The storyline was very good, other than the start of it, which was not too detailed. There are some intense moments in-game, and at times you will feel immersed in the story.

My only problem with this game is that it's multiplayer mode is rather weak. There are no bots, and not too many stages nor modes to choose from. It is still quite a fun game during multiplayer, but don't expect to be playing the multiplayer unless you have friends over.

Rent for sure, but I wouldn't recommend buying it, even though it's an awesome game, since after you beat it, you won't play it again for a long time, as it is with most games sold for their single player mode.

Strong step in the right direction

Tactical squad shooters are becoming more formulaic then cookie-cutter housing, but Freedom Fighters is a brilliant light in the cesspool of mediocrity. This game has a strong storyline backing the action packed game play. It even has a nice little twist, nothing to scale with a KOTOR plot twist, but nice enough. It allows commando-esque run n' gun action, but to survive, you'll have to deploy soldiers, and it becomes a thinking man's game. The real downside is the game's length, or lack there of. Otherwise it is a solid game.
