To Start things Foto Showdown is a pretty unique game for the DSi. When you start up the game wake up as some boy on some mysterious island. You go through battle learning all the game mechanics, after that it sorta of just go's down hill. So to get monsters you take pictures and it randomly generates monsters depending on the picture. The games menu is pretty boring and you can't do that from the selection. The choices are Room, Battle, Photo, Shop and Wireless.
Yep NO WIFI. The battles are all right but not great. When you battle you never really no who you are gonna fight. Plus when you get deeper into the game you have to pay entry fees to participate in battles! So you basically have to win all the battles the first time if you want to have enough money to buy items(which aren't that great.)The money is the biggest problem if you don't have enough money you won't be able to get more monsters because you don't have enough for capsules to capture the monster in.
Another annoyance is the monsters. They only now two moves and can't learn anymore. Also YOUR MONSTERS CAN'T LEVEL UP! WHAT UP WITH THAT? Most if not all monster battle games have some of level gaining.
Yeah you can play with your friends but there probably won't be that many that have the game where you live. The graphics are all right for DSi game. Battle sequences are lackluster because the creature doesn't even move. Music all right but you probably won't be humming it all because its not that catchy.I only have an hour and five minutes invested in the game and I'm not going to continue playing it. If your still reading this review then i give this game a 6 out of 10 or a 2out of 5.
In the long run Konami and Alpha-Unit may have made an interesting game but it falls flat on so many levels. I say don't buy this game or rent it if you don't listen to reviews. Whatever you do don't buys this game before actually trying it out. Peace out!!!
