decent game

I rented this because I've heard it was a great game, great reviews, and so on. I would like to say I am not a racing game fan, but this was decent. The cars look pretty amazing, if maybe a little too shiny and greasy. This game includes a sort of exhibition mode where you can go in and look at the vehicles close hand, with in game information of the vehicles and I thought that was spectacular. But once you get into actually playing, I found it quite confusing to be honest. The campaign doesn't seem like much of a campaign. You assume there's sort of a story, or some sort of "work your way up" but that is not the case in the case. It basically boils down to "now you're in this place. choose a random race. done? good. Now you're at this place, choose another random race." Big turn off for me. The races themselves are great at first but they suffer from a crippling "sameness" as you progress. It starts to feel like you're doing one thing, over and over. There isn't much customization of cars to speak of. You can change the car color, and add a few decals, but the decals are horrifyingly simple and limited and I could not create a single thing from them. I cannot speak as to the online multiplayer because I didn't try it. My review boils down to this. If you actually ENJOY racing SIMULATORS, this is the game for you. Simulators offer circuit races, realistic cars, parts, and handling. But if you want excitement and various kinds of races with a lot more customizable cars that is present in racing GAMES, I would not recommend this. You will be bored rather quickly.
