Solid video pinball that may not be for everyone

Video pinball has been a niche genre as long as games have been around. These games are normally split into two separate camps: The majority of these games attempt to replicate the physics and game play of true pinball machines, and several have been able to achieve this goal admirably. The remaining entries in this genre attempt to integrate game play that just isn't possible in a real pinball machine. Flipnic is the latter of these two and a whole lot more.

Flipnic is unlike any pinball game I have ever played and takes the concept of "video pinball" to new heights. The game, however, is not perfect and does have a few issues that are worth noting. Let me start with what Flipnic does right.

The game presentation is top notch, with a unique menu system that is easy to navigate and use. There are several themed play fields that are available at the start of the game. These play fields or tables, span multiple screens that contain an array of sights and sounds that immerse you in the game in unexpected ways. Many of these also have alternate views that you will encounter during game play. Additionally, the play fields contain a number of environmental additions such as waterfalls, animals, etc. that you are able to interact with during normal play and in the multitude of mini-games you will encounter as you progress through the game.

The game physics are realistic and feel natural. Gravity, inertia, ball acceleration, etc. are all represented and do not feel artificial or over accentuated.

The game does have a few low points that should be noted. Many of the bonus objectives and mini-games can become very tedious and repetitive. The unlock system is also somewhat cumbersome and may frustrate novice players.

If you are looking for a real-life pinball experience, I would suggest you consider looking elsewhere as this game embraces the video pinball concept quite literally. For all others, I recommend you give Flipnic a try.

This game is very unique and immersive, I have never seen a pinball game like this before.
I sat down with it for maybe twenty minutes before I fell in love with it, full 3D pinbal with intricate, massively interactive fields.
There really isn't any description for it, you must try it for yourself.

I recommend this game highly, just try it out.

This game could've been great, but it isn't. The levels
I got to were cool and the graphics were decent. The BIG problem instructions! There are so many things you need to do to finish a level, but the game does not give you any hints or instructions on how to do anything. It became very frustrating because I was stuck without any way to figure out how to finish the level. Everythings happens pretty fast, a voice comes on and says to do something, but you have no idea how or where to do it.
