I read the reviews, I did some research, and I rented it anyways. I must say to my surprise I am really enjoying this game, I went in with low expectations like I usually do for these kind of games and I actually like it.
The graphics look alright, the music and sound F/X are not annoying, and the voice overs are hit or miss. Honestly that kind of stuff isn't make or break for me, gameplay is. That being said and due to others reviews I was expecting a hybrid of assassins creed, fable, and Viking. I just don't see it, this game is like no other action RPG I've played in recent memory and I play them all. The levels play out in a straight forward fashion you are given quest objectives on your mini map and bonus objectives; you can go for the extra points or just do the minimum to progress further. I really like that you can play through the whole game with a friend, doing combos together and solving puzzles. I also like the addition of using the right bumper to search for clues; once you find a trail of footprints you can then follow them to treasure or enemy battles. Speaking of fighting the controls are responsive and this is were the similarities come in, it's just like fable or assassins creed in that respect but also like every other game in the genre. After saying all that I must say that some battles are hard and quite frustrating but I am also playing on hard so they are much easier on lower difficulties.
All in all I realized I just wrote a novel my apologies. I suggest that people make there own judgments on these kind of games, I myself have truly enjoyed playing it other's may not worth a rent if you can look beyond some minor flaws you might find yourself pleasantly surprised.
