Although this game is the cornerstone of the Fire Emblem name, has a great story, and is a classic, I can't exactly say it's worth more than an eight. I say that because of the game's one minor flaw: difficulty.
Being experienced in the genre, not to mention owning Sacred Stones (the other GBA Fire Emblem) and Path of Raidence (the GC Fire Emblem), I chose to play on Normal. Around chapter 19, my characters were repeatedly swarmed and destroyed by enemies, I couldn't reach the recruitable character before dying, and I couldn't get better weapons because I was somehow out of gold.
I think it may just be because of my own attachment to the characters that I can't give this game a higher rating. When playing a Fire Emblem game, I can't let even a single character die and I have to recruit everyone. Maybe if I were less attached to Lyn, Eliwood, and the rest, I could finish this game and give it a higher rating. But since Normal is more like Insane when you try to get and keep everyone alive, I'll stick with Sacred Stones and leave this game for those of you who can press on when your pegasus knight falls from yet another archer.
