Eh, another FF-esque game with better strategy

Yet another j-rpg game thats based more on story than actual gameplay. This game is almost fun... except for the fact that its less a game and more an anime coded to fit the gamecube, requiring presses of the A button ocassionally. If you liked the other two for the gameboy, and you're into games like Final Fantasy, you'll deffinently like this.
Picture a Final Fantasy where you not only pick attacks and abilities, but also move your character. You have just pictured Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.
The story is just like every other anime; bad voice acting (This is mostly the fault of the dubers), cheesy lines, lots of staring into eachother's eyes for extended periods of time. A world structured completely around being so convoluted nobody realizes it makes no sense. A world of plot holes and wavy hair. Oh well, every once in a while there's a gem of the anime genre, this game however, is not one of those times. The good news is that the story isn't completely awful, and it's not as bad as some of the others.
The strategy element is almost nonexistant, however it gets better as the game progresses (to be expected). You get to move around, which is a nice idea, but it really doesn't take much strategy. The gameplay usually consists of moving up to an enemy, clicking attack, and watching a scene of the enemy and your character taking turns hitting eachother, sound familiar? Thats because this is in almost every single j-rpg. You then do this over and over, the fight scenes become repetative, and the strategy consists of remembering which weapons reward you with an extra attack when used against which weapon. Got that down? Good, you win.
In the end, if you're looking for a strategy game its best to stick to the real time strategy games like Warcraft, Starcraft, Age of Empires, stuff like that. However, if you're into the j-rpg scene, playing a game that would be better as an anime-show, and love reading those loooooong text scenes, this game is for you!
