Final Fantasy XIII for Xbox 360 Reviews by Gamers

Even after reading all the bad reviews I rented this game just to say I played and hoped to beat it. But now I'm not so sure that's going to happen.

I was able to ignore the bad backwards and pointless storyline. I tolerated the mindless path running. I didn't mind the stingy money, 3 equipment slots and the bland leveling system.

But there are things that I can't tolerate from Square Enix.

1. The first is the battle, either they are going to be too easy or too hard. There isn't any middle ground.

2. If you have all your party members set to commando for physical attacks they will not attack the specified target. You will notice your team members attacking random targets and not the one you specify. I guess SE decided three commando character attacking the same target would be to easy of a kill so they made one randomly attack and not participate on attacking the target.

3. While you can raise your other two sub team members you can not raise yourself. If your main player dies, that's it, game over. Never in my life have I played a game where it's ok for two of your tam mates to die and you can raise them but if your main character dies then boom, end of story, no second chances.

This is really annoying too since some of the bosses will intentionally target your main character and ignore the other two for hopes of granting you a game over.

I'm at the grand foul'see boss fight at the end of Disc 2. And let me say it is so hard. All my characters are maxed out to the role level. My weapons are maxed out. My stratagrams are great. But yet I fail at this fight. I can easily get the boss

The boss will cast Doom on your main character at 20% health every time. You then have about 60 seconds to win the fight. There isn't any way to counter or remove the doom effect and since it is casted on your main character and they go it's game over. No reviving or making the other team members raise you.
