Overall the game is probably one of the most solid Nintendo DS offerings to date. The gameplay is solid and original (RPG/RTS? It works!). The story is a great stand alone, not relying on FFXII to carry it's sales. It looks to be 15-20 hours of straight story play, or 25-35 hours for a total completion. Overall one of the better investments for lifespan on the DS. While I don't enjoy the art design that much, the gameplay and story really come through here.
Pros: Great gameplay, 30 hours of fun, unique concept, great story, great in short bursts.
Cons: Main characters are a bit more bland in personality than I remember them being in FFXII, could use more Balthier, first three chapters are riddled with tutorials.
Overall? Give it a 9 out of 10. Easily recommend this to any Final Fantasy fan (even of just the older, pre-PS1 era), or any newcomer to the series. It hits back on FFXII, but it stands on it's own so you don't feel lost having not played Final Fantasy XII on the Playstation 2.
