I have only played x and x-2 and this is not what i was expecting at all. It was all planed out for you you had no freedom in the game. It was like playing x men.
Although I only played it for a half an hour it just saddened me and i put back in the mail.

This played like a Final Fantasy rip-off. I wanted to quit and play a real Final Fantasy, but then I realised I WAS playing a real Final Fantasy. The only good thing about it is how cool the protagonist is. Get Final Fantasy 12 and leave this in the dust. Poor Vincent, he deserved a better game.

Not Living Up to its Name

A spin-off of sorts of the Final Fantasy 7, that fails in what it attempts to do. The story is as convoluted as ever, but many games are like that so I generally ignore that. But beyond that, the game is horrible. The control schematics are bad, like they didn't even try. Getting the camera around the corner when you're in the middle of battle takes way too long, and is much too hard to do. The shooting aspect of the game is horrible. Without auto aim, its almost impossible to kill enemies fast enough. With the auto aim, you can just wave your aiming thing around and shoot, and enemies just die. The melee aspect of the game is horrible, like it was put in as an after thought. The magic is pretty much useless, as conventional bullets pretty much do the same thing. Vincent's limit break becomes redundant, as enemies die so fast that its only barely usable on boss fights. And the cutscenes... the cutscenes! They're all over the place! Way too many. People complained that xenosaga had too many cutscenes, but this just takes the cake! It's almost like after every group of enemies there's a cutscene. The only saving grace this game has is its final fantasy name, and the awesome graphics it has for its cinematics. Don't buy this game, rent it. And only if you really like final fantasy 7.
