Honesty, the original FF4 was my favorite of the series, but the interlude and after years sequels completely misuse the source material. I realize that Final Fantasy 4 came out quite a long time ago, and some aspects just are not going to age well, but my main gripe is the overuse of the dungeons. In each chapter of the after years you end up walking through one of the dungeons used in the original game only with different enemies, all except for one new original dungeon. edwards chapter has you going through the same dungeon 3 times. Anyway, overall i just found the after years and interlude to be a waste of time. If you want to play a good remake of FF4 check out the ds version.
so ive played the various rereleases of final fantasy 4(called final fantasy 2 on american snes consoles) and this one is my all time favorite. giving me the after years was like getting 2 games for one rental. i do have some complaints however as both interlude and the after years seem to have much higher than normal random encounter rates and seeing some of the characters lose basically everything they had in final fantasy 4 was a real downer-although it makes sense in a way. while the main game final fantasy 4 hasnt changed much the sequel- the after years adds a new element to gameplay revolving around phases of the moon. example: when the moon is full black magic does more damage but basic physical attacks do less damage. youll need to plan fighting bosses around these phases to have a easier or harder time.
