Mildly entertaining... The words that come to mind when I think of this game. As you play though this game you can tell it was not designed for the PSP or any modern system. It’s the classic FF2 game burned onto modern media with updated cut scenes added. You almost have to use a guide with this one. (Mostly because we've gotten so used to mini maps and arrows leading the way the idea of spending hors trekking through the woods or walking in circle annoys us.) If you're looking for instant gratification or quick leveling do not pick up this game. Every spell and class of weapon levels up separately with the outputs directly linked to the character using them. You could have mastered 5 other spells but when you learn the new one it does little to no damage and often flat out misses. Mastering skills require you to cast or use a spell or piece of equipment a successive number of times on progressively harder enemies. Use of the aforementioned items determines how quickly you add to you characters core stats. Want to have a strong melee fighter then wield a weapon in combat you will earn points to physical combat during every fight. However you'll earn none ranged or magic. Although nice at first it quickly becomes a tedious and nagging Endeavour if you're like me and like max stat characters.
Although at times the story reads like something my 9 year old wrote. It helps to bear in mind this game is 20 years old and was not written for the US market. It’s a great bit of history brought back and a must play for any hardcore rpg'er of video game fanatic
