I had high hopes for The Crystal Bearers; both in the world that was presented in previews and the fact that I believe in the Crystal Chronicles mythology, even though the Square Enix doesn't. Alas, it's a game more for show than for playing; as I think I watched more things happen that I actually had any hand in.
I could go on and on about all the things that irritated and/or bored me, but I'll leave it at the fact that it was developed lazily to not really play to the Wii's strengths and instead in the hopes of blinding you with flash and circumstance.
I liked the world in the end (even though it's one hallway after another) and found joy in the meta game of taking photographs. Everything else felt forgettable.
Had high hopes, but this gets boring real quick. To call the combat system repetitive is a HUGE understatement. I tried to keep playing hoping that it would get better, but no dice. About 4 hours in, I quit and put it back in the mailbox. No graphic quality or story line can make up for poor play control and lack of imagination.
I was so excited for this game and was even more let down. For the Wii the graphics looks pretty darn good. After an hour and a half I was bored. There seems to be more movie than game play. Even when the video ends you run...and run...and run, then sometimes jump, then another movie begins (that you cannot skip). Every so often you come across a bad guy that you must lock on to and swing the wiimote. Then you pick up items to enhance your stats. I am a fan of RPGs but this game is just bad. I just wasted almost two hours of my life that I cannot get back. Don't rent!!!!
Pros: Graphics look great for Wii Controls are sharp Story is OK
Cons: Videos are too long & cannot skip Story is ok You run ALOT Not much action
