If you like boxing, I've got good news for you. EA's Fight Night Round 2 has the drive and depth to take boxing to a new level. Since EA developed the Fight Night series, they've been going with the concept of using the right control stick for "Total Punch Control". This might seem tricky at first, and there are still some problems with it, but it becomes easier as you use it. Basically you can throw hooks, uppercuts and jabs by moving the analog stick diagonally or to the side and rolling it in a circular pattern upwards. You can also throw haymakers by winding back and then throwing a punch. The system offers blocks and parrys as well, and even clutches you can use in a...well, clutch. You also get special punches and illegal punches you can try to get past the refs. All the production and training has been included in career mode and it offers a nice "rebuild a legend" category, where you can take Leonard, Ali, Marciano, Lamotta or dozens of others all the way from rank 50 to the championship. Boxers are available in all the weight classes as well, and it definitely feels different fighting in welterweight than it does in heavyweight. You even get a mini-game between rounds where you play cutman to heal your injuries. The real downside to this game is that the total punch control feels inaccurate and overly complicated at times, especially when trying to hit the right trigger and time a thrust in a certain direction to parry. I found myself wishing I could just use the face buttons to throw my punches, which would have been faster. Also, difficulty ramps up fast, seeming easy at first and suddenly becoming frustrating toward the top. There are several multi-player modes which will extend the games life considerably. Overall, this game comes out the champ over it's competition. Worth a try or buy for fans of the pugilist arts.

I have owned this game for about a year and a half. It still is one of my favorites. I like it because the movement of the boxers is very realistic, and true to timing. There are many aspects that I like such as the realism of the injuries, the reaction time from Controller to movement of the Boxer. I also love the way you control the punches. You use the analog joystick to control how you punch. This involves a "feel" and is quite amusing as it requires some skill to get it down.
One thing that I can say that I wish that they wouldn't have done is to make the Focused training something that is the only way to effectively boost up your stats. You have to do it over and over again. I also don't like the music in it. I thought that it was all rap/hip hop, and lets face it, not everyone likes that kind of music. oh well. Overall, I liked it alot, and will continue to enjoy it.
