I was anticipating the next installment of the Fight Night series. I have been hooked since my roommate got me into them around Fight Night Round 2 on PS2. I own both Round 3 and Round 4 on PS3. But back to Champion.

Ok, first off the champion game mode is great, i love the story and the graphics of the cut scenes, very nice in a sports game. Also, the prison fights brought something new to the series, i just wish you could make a 2 player prison match. The Legacy mode, is great again. Lots of options are available when creating a boxer, one could spends hours in this section alone, but you can make one quickly if you wanted to as well.

Dislikes thus far, most of the fighters are locked, and after beating champion mode yes that unlocks alot of middle and heavyweights. But many many of the lower classes remain locked and searching the net the only answer i can find how to unlock them is to purchase them.
Training Games, yes there are many in this installment, however most are a variation of opening sparring. Like you are weak and must avoid a knockdown, or vice versa, opponent weak and must score knockdown, or use outside or inside punches and the like. But the kicker about training games is you don't have to be decent at many of them, just find one you are really good at and stick with it. As long as you hit the top level score reward you get the best bonus possible, everytime. I also dislike that EA puts an additional online charge into the game so people who use services like Gamefly have to purchase a pass to play online. This one gives a week free, but most street dealers give away the first hit for free too, lol.

Overall I say its not a bad game, definitely worth the rent for sure, especially if you're a fan of the Fight Night series. As far as the purchase, well I'm a little reserved. I guess you'll have to try it for yourself to decide, but if you are going to buy, it's worth buying it new so you don't have to purchase an additional pass to play online
