this game is easily the best game i have played in a while this game shines the brightest in its single player although the multiplayer is good to it combines free roam exploration action and survival the people are equally as deadly as the wildlife and you need to kill bird and bore alike if you wanna survive but more importantly you can craft things form them like ammo pouches and weapon holders the game takes a little while to start but its alot better when you get the hang of it when you first start you'll feel like ammo is much to scarce but when you craft an ammo pouch it wont be the gameplay is less about action and a little bit more about exploration the story is pretty good the characters are great and have great actors but the villain steals the spotlight basically the villain kidnapped you and your friends and you have to find them it sounds like a simple story but it gets better the multiplayer is not as good but is still good but it lacks game modes which is the main problem with it the online and split screen co op is good to this is your typical waves of enemies mode just be sure you have at least 3 friends otherwise its pretty unbalanced its just to bad there's no co op that lets you play the single player story and roam around together thats a feature that far cry 3 crys out for all in all there's no point in renting it keep it!
Far Cry 2 was one of my favorite games for a number of reasons. I won't go into detail because this is a review for FC3, but as much as I liked it, I felt it lacked in some areas.
FC3 makes up for those shortcomings though in a big way. I have tired of the same, routine, FPS games and basically completely avoid them these days. FC3 is a lot more than a FPS game though. It reminds me of a mix between Uncharted, Just Cause 2, and Skyrim. The amazing thing is that it not only feels like a combination of those games, but it is good enough to be compared to them.
I'm sure by now you have seen a lot of the fun things you can do in the game so I won't go in depth with them. I will mention some of my favorite things to do in the game that put a smile on my face.
Planting mines and/or C4 on roads and watching pirates drive over them and explode just warms my heart. I actually put so much explosive on the road that it the jeep did a complete back flip and the passengers went flying. I could do this for hours on end.
There are a lot of cool weapons in the game, but the bow is hands down my favorite. Arrows drop if shooting beyond a certain distance so you have to judge and compensate for that and aim higher depending on far your target is. Shooting enemies from 100 yards is simply awesome, and it doesn't feel unrealistic.
The Path of the Hunter quests are a lot of fun, and some are really challenging, requiring you to take down powerful and dangerous animals with bows or pistols.
The story is surprisingly good and I was sad when I finished it, because I wanted to play more. A lot of the missions follow familiar structures but there are a lot of plot twists and will catch you off guard at times. There are also some really shocking and disturbing moments in the game that you will remember for a while.
The only real gripe I have is the ending. I won't spoil it, but it just left me feeling empty inside. Part of the reason is because I enjoyed the story so
The world is huge and there is so much to do. I like how the game allows you to explore and do the things you want like liberating outposts, hunting and skinning animals, side missions, and the like.. and then tells you "here is the mission when you are ready to start it."
The visuals are amazing. The dialogue of the bad guys gets a little old though... how many times do I need to hear that "something stinks around here?"
The quick access points are a real time saver and wonderful feature. What I like most... do what you want how you want. What I like least... $ seems just a bit too hard to comeby.
