The story is cool and unique. You are Jason Brody, a college kid visiting an island with his friends. Simple right? Wrong! Jason and his friends are captured by pirates (modern ones of course) and now its up to you to break free from their grasp, save your friends and become a warrior! The game play wasn't perfect but it almost never is in any game. The cover system wasn't the best but it was still a good choice because you are in a first person point of view. I found somewhat of a lack in weapon choices as well but it makes up for it with powerful and awesome looking guns. Besides I'm sure you won't be thinking about that once your blowing away hordes of pirates with and LMG. Keep in mind some missions are pretty hard. Not hair tearing game breaking hard but still hard none the less. But once again you should not let that take away from the experience. As for the world itself, there is so much to do like hunt, activate radio towers, go relic hunting or simply looking for collectables. There are also some mini games and side quest on the side if you ever get a little bored of the story. The co-op in this game is a little broken to be honest. I tried playing it with one of my friends and it was ok for a little but it just isn't something I was interested in playing a whole lot like I was with the story mode. My advise to you is to stick mainly to the story and maybe dabble in the co-op and multiplayer if your up for it. My verdict is 9 out of 10.
