I found the game an enjoyable entry in its own legacy - a new step forward in the Crysis engine usually means new"i've never seen this before" moments, but even here it is innovative, with very few barriers to a wholly immersive experience. To talk about Far Cry 3 is to talk in obtuse SPOILERS so if anything doesn't make sense, it probaby will
The game firmly put me in my place from its opening scene, and kept me there for long stretches. It's a trick of perspective, and it is used masterfully (and at turns, to winking excess). As far as caring about the game's central characters, they'll give you emotional fodder; what you do with it is your own. Jealousy, Guilt, Shame, Lust, we'll step through it all as we unfold this interactive condemnation of the modern gamer.
for that's ultimately what this is; a statement on the modern FPS game, the repetition and pathfinding, problem solving and grinding, all here as both experience and commentary. It's kind of like playing FarmVille when you get off your job at an actual farm - though there is a variety to do, that nearly everything can be reduced to a button press or two feels a tad diminishing to the scale of the activities.
There's a twist (or not), and another (or not), but ultimately if you have any sense of a. narrative structure or b. karmic simultaneity or even c. irony, you'll know what's coming as it does.
What the game ultimately does is extrapolate the future of its characters: Privileged white man lands on island, goes native in his quest for revenge, finding what was lacking in his life before. Riding 4 wheelers, hunting elk with a knife and sharks with a box and arrow, flying, playing hero to surviving friends, picking flowers, murdering countless opponents without identity or consequence...
The logical endgame of this endeavor? Revenge and assumption of an island godhood? escape and redemption in the form of family and friends? The game's ambiguity underlines its medium, which belies its mess

I have played alot of free roam games and have liked alot of them and out of any free roam game or any game i have played in a while i must say Far Cry 3 is the best it tops at number 1 if you enjoy gaming with no borders and want to have true fun play this game. I experienced things in this game i have not in any other game suck as hunting sharks and all the flying instruments and it just is an amsing gaming experience i own over 30 some games and this is the only game i played the whole time i had it. Another good thing is its not a short game it gives you plenty of stuff to do to keep from beating the game quickly and you can just habve fun doing free play it deffinetly a 5 out of 5 controllers
