30 Not So Great Games That May Occur in An Arena

12 out of 12 gamers (100%) found this review helpful

The game is called Family Party 30 Great Games Obstacle Arena, but there are some words in that tile that does not fit
First off, the game has 35 games, not 30 games – there are 25 games divided into five sections that use the Wiimote only (some with Wiimote and Nunchuck) while 10 games use the WiiU Gamepad plus the Wiimote or Wiimote/Nunchuck
But just like any other 30 Great Game installment, most of the games are locked. Of the 35 minigames available, only 14 are unlocked in two sections – and only 4 of the 12 characters are unlocked at the first play.
Unlocking the locked material requires several rounds of the unlocked games. If you don’t like those games, too bad - you have to play them.
Also, you have to beat a certain point goal to unlock the material – which gets very high in the later sections.
And the minigames aren’t Great, they’re a mixed bag. Some are fun (like shooting a pattern in a block of lights), some are bland (put mustard or ketchup on a hot dog? Really?), while others have too overly complicated controls (this games makes jumping far too complicated. It can easily be done with a push of a button rather than a wave of the Wiimote)
And several games have nothing to do with an Arena or and Obstacle Course.
What make things worse are the games using the WiiU Game Pad. These games are mostly unbalanced- the player with the Game Pad has too much of an advantage over the other players, and easily wins those games – and gets a huge lead in the rankings.
And I really don’t care for the constant cheering of Miguel, the bear, that is non-stop in every single game played.
Family Party 30 Games Obstacle Arena might be good for kids 8-12, who should rent it before they buy it, but not for most players outside that demographic. SKIP IT.

Sometimes a collection of mini games can be fun, but this isn't. It's actually really bad. You can't even use the Wii U controller pad I think. Any game I tried made me use regular Wii controllers, which is fine...but it's for the Wii U. It was really childish. To be honest, I only tried this for like 15-20 minutes and couldn't bear it anymore. Don't waste your time.
