Most of the negative ratings will come from Fallout universe fanboys who were disappointed that this game wasn't much like the PC games. So... here's an unbiased opinion of the game:
This is an isometric (top-down) rpg/shooter. You are set in the Fallout (post-apocalyptic western U.S.) world. The missions are pretty straight-forward and usually involve a lot of shooting/killing to get to a boss. You pick up (stims) health, ammo, armor and better weapons along the way. With every level gained through experience you can choose skills that will make you better at something (accuracy, rate of fire, etc). It's technically an RPG because of that, but more of a shooter as there is really only one option for completing a mission; killing everything in your way.
The "You Might Like" section is 100% incorrect. This game is NOTHING like ANY of those games listed. This game plays exactly like the Xbox Baldur's Gates or Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes. If you like them, you'll like this. I did.
