In the beginning you take a stupid tutorial and the turning is horrible. It is hard to turn.

This game is difficult if you're new to racing sims. Where Forza and Gran Turismo can be both challenging and forgiving, this game (like the real sport of Formula 1 racing) is very reliant on technical skill and racing knowledge. I have been playing the game with ABS on and TCS on medium (mainly because there isn't the feedback through a controller you really need to judge wheel lock and wheel spin that, while in an ordinary game can be balanced out, in this game is a certain spin/crash). I also have been playing with the AI on the lowest level. At this level, if you know what you're doing you can easily win every race. If not, it can still be extremely challenging. I haven't tied a more difficult level, so I can't comment on that.

The career mode is nice, but really lacks something in the way of a "story"...I know racing sims aren't supposed to have a plot, but there is something about the idea of a "career" - starting off as a nobody and working your way up through to the top that really almost demands some kind of story to go along with it to support that emotional attachment.

If you've played the earlier installments of this series, little has changed. I do miss the post-race interviews...that at least gave me a bit of that personal touch I was describing earlier. Graphics are very nice (especially the detail in first person view), and the physics are decent enough for a console-based racing sim that still has to appeal to a wide market.

Be warned, though - it's not an easy game if you're new to racing. You'll need to know racing lines, braking points, accelerator control, etc. to really do well with this game. If you have that knowledge, it's a fun game to pick up and play through. If not, stick to Forza or NFS
