Fun to play with a child (or a wife)

My wife doesn't like most video games, she doesn't understand how to rotate the camera around, she is bad at killing people and she gets frustrated quick.

She read the Eragon book and really liked it and in one of the reviews I saw for the game they talked about how simple it was. They were right.

If it were just me playing the game I would get through it very fast without dying or struggling at all. It would be too simple and not worth the purchase price.

Playing with my wife however it was a perfect game. The camera never got stuck in places where I couldn't see the fighting and the button combo system is very simple and anyone can handle it. The fact that you can't control the camera made it a very easy game to play for my wife.

The story is awful though, it doesn't follow the book very close and really doesn't make much sense at all. The graphics look like they belong on the PS2 even in high definition. They aren't anything special.

I would only recommend this game if you want to play something with a small child or significant other who is terrible at games. My grandmother could probably get the hang of this game, although she would complain about her arthritis and how back in her day, when they lived on a dirt floor, they kept each other entertained with things like jacks and marbles. Rent it though don't buy it.

Weak

Not for the book fans

Everyone knows the book was great and even while I was reading it I thought " this would make a good game"! I thought of a more red steel 1st person sword duel , seeing how christopher got so detailed with each sword swing and fight. Instead I got a half done smash em'up lord of the rings game. ( Besides for a dragon, who thought of that!!!????)This game didn't stick to the book which
would have made it perfect. The action and immense army's were nowhere to be seen, smelt, or heard.

Horrible

I Had to Make Sure this was a 360 Title

WOW, this is one really bad title.

Visually, it looks like a last-gen title. I thought it was a PS2 title when I started playing it. And the Pandemonium-style 2.5D graphics were nifty TEN YEARS AGO, but they don't quite cut it now. Did anybody play this game before shipping it?

But the visuals are hardly the biggest problem.

For starters, it couldn't conceivably be any easier without pushing the buttons FOR you and just asking you to watch. If you don't pull off 1000 gamerscore points, you should stop playing games. Unless you just can't sit through the 18 or so levels of sheer tedium.

I can handle an easy game if it is fun, but an easy game that is ALSO tedious is just ridiculous. Why should somebody punish themselves by playing this dreck? It lived down to all of my expectations, which was not easy.

They somehow made flying a dragon tedious. How the heck is that even possible? The movie was not good and the game was, amazingly, worse. I know Lair has issues, but they were control based --- not that the dragon riding thing was actually DULL. That was the case here.

Do not play this game. You will regret it.
